CII Conference on Smart Sustainable Cities was held on February 18 at Hotel Radisson in Noida. The Conference stressed upon the urgent need to prioritize green growth and sustainability of cities.
The conference highlighted the importance of a globally coordinated approach and internationally standardized technologies in the creation of new ’smart sustainable cities’ that will reduce the environmental footprint of cities, increase their appeal, and safeguard quality of life-all without any adverse effects on the efficiency of utilities.
The one day conference focused on various aspects of sustainability, including Infrastructure development, energy efficiency, green power and waste management. Various noteworthy speakers were part of the panel at the CII event.
Sameer Gupta, Chairman, CII Western UP Zonal Council and Managing Director, Jakson Group, said, “the upcoming cities require to be built in a manner that enhances quality of life and this calls for empowered leadership. Technology can help India to leapfrog and would also be critical for ushering in green policy and initiatives for the cities.”
“Technology and Public Transportation are the key to sustainable urbanization”, stressed Amitabh Kant, CEO and Managing Director, Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC).
Dr.Prem C Jain, Chairman, IGBC and AECOM India, addressed the gathering with his valuable inputs on green movement in the country. He applauded Noida Authority for being the first to provide five per cent more FAR for ’Platinum and Gold rated buildings which will give huge fillip to the green movement’.
